In the Philippines, our Christmas season is every during the "-Ber" months of the year. As early as September 1 you'll already find Christmas trees installed in the houses and even some companies.
In Dumaguete, Christmas won't be complete if you haven't visited the well-known "Christmas House".
The Christmas House is owned by Dr. Rico Absin. For the past 2 decades, the practicing anesthesiologist, opens and shares his private residence to those who visit Dumaguete and Negros Oriental every Christmas. It has already become an annual tradition for him to share his blessings to everyone. He even throws a party for the benefit of less fortunate children in Dumaguete and just like Santa Claus, he wraps and give gifts for each of them. Dr. Rico's house is always the merriest and brightest every December.
The Christmas House is outlined by Christmas lights and has brightly colored reindeers on top the roof. The garden is more of a Disney-themed because of the Disney characters and princesses: Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine and Snow White which surely little girls will be delighted about. The rooms are all decorated beautifully with each has a different theme, from the colors and up to the decorations. Christmas carols and Disney songs are played all throughout the day.
The Christmas House is open to the public (usually starting November) for a minimal admission fee (Php25 for adults, Php15 for kids - subject to change without prior notice) from 7:00pm to 11:00pm.
How to Get There
From Manila, you can fly to Dumaguete (estimated cost of Php4,000++, round trip, one hour and 15 minutes).
