The Hindang Caves is situated in the upper slopes of Mt. Bontok. From the park entrance you will need to climb more than 100 steps on a winding stairway for you to reach the said caves.  Along the path, you will see wild monkeys (for a better view you may offer them bananas).

There are many caves located in Hindang, Leyte, caves with different sizes and shapes. The Cathedral Cave is the most prominent among these caves because it served as a sanctuary for the guerillas during the World War II.

It also tells a story about Maria Cacao, a fairy who guards the caves and wild creatures living in Mt. Bontok.
