I am a Bisaya. And I am among others very grateful for the sainthood of Pedro Caslungsod. On November 30, 2012 is the National Thanksgiving Mass in honor of San Pedro Calungsod. Pilgrims from all over the country will attend the Eucharistic celebration at the South Road Prperties in Cebu. There in the solemnity of the Eucharistic Celebration, the nation will savior a moment of unity and peace before the backdrop of Cebu’s hillsides.

Part of the preparation for the National Thanksgiving Mass was the “Duaw Nasud”. This is the visit of the Holy Image to the Archdioses and Dioceses all over the country.

A fluvial procession will be held to bring the image of San Pedro Calungsod to the South Road Properties (SRP) for the national mass. The Navy and Coast Guard will provide security for the San Diego Galleon, which will carry the image of the second Filipino saint.

Two foot processions coming from the northern and southern parts of Cebu Province, as well as the fluvial procession in the Mactan Channel, will precede the mass. All three delegations will converge at the mass site.

San Pedro will therefore unify the country of one day, And as he does, this lesson is taught:  that even though how divergent our personal and political agenda are, we are all brothers and sisters under the fatherhood of God. And no matter how we disagree on socio-economic and political issues we are still a people with one country and one common tradition.  Thus, this is an activity one should never miss.
