Bayanihan is a common tradition in the Philippines wherein it refers to the spirit of communal unity and cooperation among the Filipinos. Although, there’s a lot of forms of bayanihan, one of the perfect ways to describe it, is the process of literally moving an entire house to its new place throught the help of the community.
In the rural areas in the Philippines where houses are built on stilts, the people in the neighborhood works together to carry the entire house using the bamboo frames. It takes a large number of people to move the house and despite it all, they all do this in a happy and festive mood.
The relocated family then pays gratitude to their friends and relatives by throwing a fiesta to celebrate for a days’ activity.
Only here in the Philippines right? Tunay na tatak Pinoy!
