Last July 14, Blessed Pedro Calungsod starts his 100-day journey to be canonized as the 2nd Filipino Saint.
In Cebu City, a mass was celebrated at 2:30pm at the Minor Basilica del Santo Niño, followed by a motorcade at 4:00pm that kicked off the 100-day countdown or "the 100 days of Grace" for the Canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod. The motorcade started at the Basilica then passed through Osmeña Boulevard all the way to Fuente Osmeña where the countdown clock at 5:00pm was unveiled. The image of Blessed Pedro was then unveiled at 5:15pm.
In Marikina City, the 100-day countdown to the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod kicked-off through a website launching during the first Catholic Social Media Summit. Religious leaders, led by Manila Archbishop Antonio Tagle, and lay promoters of the life and work of the soon-to-be-saint joined the National Commission on the Canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod who graced the event, which was highlighted by the launching of the http://sanpedrocalungsod.com/ website.

The Canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod will be on October 21, 2012 at St. Peter's Square in Rome.
The first Filipino Saint is St. Lorenzo Ruiz and if there are any similarities between him and Blessed Pedro Calungsod, it is that, both were martyred in foreign lands evangelizing for the Catholic faith.
