When we talk of Senate, one thing pass through our minds is Senate Hearing, Blue Ribbon Committee, etcetera etcetera. Honestly speaking we we enter the halls of the senate grounds it gives me chills because we are going to meet our elected senators of whom we see them only on TV. We see them Debating, getting Mad, and to the point of seeing them chatting. We used to think that when we meet our leaders (personally) we will think that, that certain Senator is a hot headed person. Come to think of it, when I met Senator Mirriam Defensor-Santiago she's approachable, kind and a nice person. We see her on TV getting mad and frustrated to the point that everyone of us think that she's a mad old woman. I was wrong. When we approached her, we told her to have a photo-op with us, she accepted and upon noticing her furious face wasn't there instead she smiled and talked to us like a normal conversation.
Another incident happen, after going to the Senate, our last Destination for our field trip was SM Mall ofAsia where we had our dinner. We came there very early so we could roam and shop around. We roam around everywhere enjoying ourselves up. I told my companions I'll just go to a boutique to window shop on my fave item (Collectibles like Basketball cards and action figures). Upon looking at several Items, I heard a familiar voice. It seems very familiar to me. I slowly turned my head around and suddenly I was star-struck. It was Senator Allan Peter Cayetano on the same store that I was in. I slowly walk to the door, and immidiately ran towards my companions who where waiting for me outside, I whispered to them I saw Senator Cayetano on the store I was in. A friend of mine approached Senator Cayetano and ask if we could have a photo-op with him. He smiled and said yes. And he notices me. He ask me, if I am also a collector, I said yes! And we got clicked up and talk about our hobby.
Well you see, Senators are not just those persons we see on TV debating. Outside of their work, they are still the same ordinary Filipino Citizen just the way we are.
