Hot chocolate would come from pure unadulterated cocoa tablets or Tabliya to make a hot cup of sikwate.
Cacao beans are roasted and ground before forming into tablets. These are then dropped in boiling water and stirred to have that bitter and heavenly sikwate. The amount of sugar added depends on how sweet you’d like your sikwate to be. Or others add milk to lessen the bitterness.
Did you know that the darker the chocolate the better it is for you? Dark chocolate contains more flavonoids. Flavonoids improve blood flow, helps lower your blood pressure, and promotes a healthy heart.
At the Mt. Apo Highlands Resort, a pack of 12 tablets or 85grams would cost PhP100 (US$2.33) and a cup at PhP40 (US$0.93).
The next time you’re holding that hot sikwate, you just don’t help your blood flow easily… you also get some comfort in a cup.
