I’m neither a cook nor an expert in various kinds of food. I just love to eat and addicted with “ lutong-Bahay”.  My father is the master in our kitchen. He makes us, his children, feel at home everytime we spend our weekends together. He introduces me to some native dishes like the Ginataang Puso ng Saging.

Puso ng Saging can also be called as banana bud or blossom. It is a bit similar with a human’s heart that is why it is called Puso (heart) by most filipinos.

Ginataang Puso ng saging is well-known in Aklan. It got famous that is why the recipe spread in some provinces in the Philippines.

How to Prepare?

Ingredient:

1 banana blossom

1 cup of pure coconut milk

1 cup of coconut milk mixed with  water (after extracting the pure coconut milk, add water and squeeze again)

¼ cup sliced Onion

¼ cup sliced Garlic

1-2 tablespoon Oil

Salt

Directions:

1.       Remove the outer covering of the blossom

2.       Slice into thin pieces

Some add 2 tablespoon of salt and squeeze it to lessen the bitterness of the vegetable. (You can skip this step then set aside)

3.       Prepare enough size of pan then place it on fire.

4.        Put oil in the pan and fry the garlic and onion.

5.       Add the banana blossoms and the coconut milk mixed with water. Wait for 3 minutes.

6.       Add pure coconut milk

7.       Add salt

8.       Cover the pan for 3 minutes.
