Carabao milk is known as the "most complete food," having protein, fat, lactose, vitamins and minerals, and water. Located inside the University of the Philippines Los Baños, the Philippine Carabao Center boasts of a wide variety of products made from carabao milk. Probably its bestseller, the choco milk has a rich, chocolatey flavor that doesn't leave you wanting water after - it's that refreshing.
Kesong puti made from Carabao milk is a firmer compared to the kesong puti famous in Santa Cruz, Laguna. Their kesong puti is not salty (which some may find 'matabang') but it is still best paired with hot pandesal or even hot rice.
The pastillas de leche is yummy as well - not too sweet but very tasty. Its texture is different from pastillas made with cow's milk, I think. The one made from carabao milk is a bit rougher in texture and chewy.
The center also offers meat products made from carabao meat such as a variety of sausages and hotdog.
There are a lot of people from Manila buying in large amounts whenever we drop by to buy their products. So it's best to buy products here in the morning as stocks may run out later in the afternoon. :)
