Jiabong in Samar province is the mussel capital in Eastern Visayas, which supplies tahong in Cebu, Davao and even in Manila. Tahong is prepared in various ways here, and because of its abundance, some locals have started a business out of tahong.



Tahong crackers is one famous product in Jiabong, Samar. It could serve as an alternative to junk foods plus it is healthy because it is prepared without adding preservatives. The tahong meat is simply prepared with flour, iodized salt and baking powder and is being fried. It is also rich on protein, calcium iodine, and iron.



It is being sold at Php65.00 per pack. Fresh tahong meat is sold at Php10.00-Php20.00 per kilo.



Another famous product in Samar is the fermented oyster or locally known as "sisi", it serves as an appetizer, and so it is commonly present in every Waraynons table. It could also serve as an alternative to meat when cooking vegetables.
