Raul Matias, founder of Machiavelli Chocolatier loves to create fancy chocolates - chocolate bonbons with ube, wine. kapeng barako, guave or bacon.
In his own special way, Raul created a limited edition commemorative Cory Aquino Bar for the 2nd death anniversary of the late President who is considered to be, “The Mother of Philippine Democracy”.
“It’s just my way of showing my appreciation for the personal sacrifices she made to improve the life of Filipinos,” said Raul, who studied making gourmet chocolates in the US, France and Canada and started his fancy chocolate store in New York.
The ingredients of Cory Chocolate Bar are crushed cashews, chocolate, dark chocolate, sugar and milk- which Raul said are simple yet of a high standard- similar to the way the late President lived her life.
“I asked people who were close to her and they said cashews were among her favorite food”, Raul explained.
The commemorative chocolates are limited to just 500 pieces and will be sold for Php150 each in his shops in Makati and Mandaluyong. Each bar is encased in a gold foil and a yellow wrapper with an image of a smiling Cory Aquino. A batch was given to family members during the commemorative mass.
