Linarang is one of Cebu's specialties. It is an authentic Cebuano dish usually sold in the city slums and streets.
Pasil Fish Market has been the destination of Cebuanos when it comes to fresh seafood at the best price. Pasil's Fish port is the primary drop-off point for fresh fishes caught during the day and is believed to be one of the biggest seafood markets in the Visayas region. So if you plan to buy your seafood in Pasil, don't market alone! Be extra careful since it is a very busy place.
Pasil is famous for "linarang". It is considered as a main course similar to fish "tinola" or to some describes it as similar to "sinigang". The difference of linarang is that is cooked with more spices and with additional ingredients like tausi, tomato, green mango and leeks depending on what the main ingredient is.
A serving of linarang may cost between Php100 to Php500 depending of the fish used.
There are many kinds of linarang recipes. So if you have your very own linarang recipe, post it here on www.choosephils.com.
