The humble town of Labo, Camarines Norte has their own tradition in celebrating the most loved patroness of Southern Tagalog, Our Lady of Penafrancia.
Despite the rains, the residents of Labo gathered along their own Naga river, the Busig-on river for the 38th celebration of the feast of Penafrancia. Even with the river’s heavy water flow, the procession pushed through and the devotees paid no mind to the rain. An air of devotion resonated as devotees continue to chant and celebrate the event.
Just like the more popular Our Lady of Penafrancia procession in Naga, the men were the only ones allowed to carry Our Lady. It is believed that if a woman participates in the procession, bad luck will ensue. The women thereby patiently wait and serve as witness as the Lady makes it way back to the church.
A fervent prayer of novena concluded the feast. Soon after, delicious Goto was served for the devotees to help warm the festive, rainy atmosphere
