Held every third week of October, the Lanzones Festival of the Island o f Camiguin is a grand celebration of the Camiguinons to the beautiful harvest they have of the fruit Lanzones. With its sweet and tasty fruit, the tropical fruit grows mostly in the north-central coast of Mindanao.

The celebration runs for four days with street dancing competition, parties, cultural shows and the coronation of Mutya ng Buahanan.

The trading of Lanzones fruit for the month of October is very low that most of the visitors so as foreigners like because of the opportunity to enjoy eating the said fruit without too much expenses.

The celebration is believed to start with the story when a couple asked help from the goddess of the Lanzones to give them a child. The goddess grant them a healthy child but they forgot to give thanks to her that made the goddess give them a lesson by making the child sick. There the couple realized that they have to give thanks to the goddess. From then, the other towns were invited to celebrate with them.

A month perfect to have a getaway to the Island of Camiguin this October!
