Situated at the base of Mt. Kanlaon, La Castellana is named after the famous "Paseo de La Castellana" in Madrid, Spain.
The town is famous for its scenic spots, natural springs and waterfalls. As an agricultural town it produces rice, sugarcane and banana. The town is abundant of its different varieties of bananas, thus, they also celebrate a harvest festival - Banana Festival.
The Banana Festival is a festival which is held every month of April. Expect to see lots of bananas as booths, floats and costumes made of banana are displayed during this festival.
The municipality of La Castellana is also known for its Bailes de Luces Festival.
How to Get There
From Manila, you can fly to Bacolod (Php2500++, round trip, 45 minutes). From Bacolod-Silay Airport, you can take a shuttle (Php75-100 per head), or hail a cab to go to Bacolod South Terminal.
From Bacolod, La Castellana is approximately 1.5-hour drive using public utility vehicles. If by private car, it could only be an hour away.
