Location: A natural amphitheater at the foot of Mt. Malasimbo Mountain, Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro (two hours south of Manila).
Event: Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival
Dates: March 2,3,4
Culture: Ringing in the crowd
A mix of music, arts and culture, the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival is all set to bring out the artist in you.
Dancing under the stars, the crowd goes wild for the atmosphere music lovers would die for. Bands from all over the world came to share their gift of music to the visitors. From Joey Ayala, with his popular compilation of Original Pilipino Music, to Japan’s Kyoto Jazz Massive with their rowdy lead singer entertaining the crowd to the 300 artists set to perform in the 3 day event.
The headliner of this year is none other than Joe Bataan, the artist dubbed as the King of Soulsa (a combination of Soul and Latin salsa music). Bataan is half-Fiipino, born and raised in New York City, USA. He is set to sing and perform his music to the crowd as he fulfills his father’s dream of finally coming back to his homeland.
Art installations decorated the event grounds, creating a vibe like no other. With art wherever you look, one cannot help but be inspired by the creativity that resonates at the event.
A Mangyan Village was also set up for people to see and be aware of how the indigenous people of Mindoro still try to preserve their culture amidst the changes of the more commercialized world.
Words will never grasp the vibe and feel of the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival. It’s that kind of event where you have to go to appreciate. Expect the unexpected and revel under the stars as you indulge yourself with music, arts and culture like no other!
Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival is spearheaded by Hubert D'Aboville, with the partnership and support of the Department of Tourism.
