The Kalinawa Art Foundation will hold the 2nd Indigenous Peoples’ Visual Art Exhibit in Pagadian City featuring the Tri People of Zamboanga del Sur on September 23, 2011 which aims to promote the inherent talents of the Indigenous Peoples in the country. An element of show will be a competition among talented Indigenous People who will showcase their work of art based on four categories: traditional, open two dimensional, open three dimensional and youth category.



 



In the Traditional category the artwork must be based on traditional knowledge and/or materials while in the  Open Two Dimensional any two-dimensional medium can be used excluding photography, which can include but is not limited to paintings, drawings, tapestries and etchings. Meanwhile, in the Open Three Dimensional category, the artist can use any three-dimensional medium, including but not limited to sculpture and pottery and Youth is an open category for artists under 18 years of age.



 



Registration begins on September 23 from 1:00-5:30 in the afternoon at the Zamboanga del Sur National High School Gym and will continue on the next day September 24 from 09:00 am to 05:30 pm and September 25 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the 3rd floor lobby of Hotel Alindahaw. At 5:00 pm of September 25 venue preparation resumes at the Zamboanga del Sur National High School Gym. Opening ceremony is scheduled on September 26 and the exhibit will then be opened to the public for viewing and community sale on September 27 to October 01 at the Zamboanga del Sur National School Gym. The Curator of the show is the Foundation’s long-time curator Mr. Jun Jamero.   A total of P36, 000 in prizes which will be divided among winners of the Four (4) categories which  will be presented at the Awards Ceremony on October 01. “This exhibit is in partnership with the TAO (Tabina Artists Organization) , the National Commission for Culture and the Arts Committee on Visual Art for Western Mindanao and the Zamboanga del Sur National High School.
