Palawan is the largest province of the Philippines in terms of land area. It is located in a region where the waters offer a diverse bounty, the land is rich and history waiting to be made. Palawan is home to world class tourist and travel destinations: Coron, El Nido, and Amanpulo.
The roots of an ancient people can be traced to 22,000 years ago in Palawan where fragments of the Tabon Man were found. Based on these facts, an annual festival of a truly Palawan nature, the “Baragatan Festival†was established from June 10 to June 23.
Baragatan comes from the Cuyuno word "bagat," which means to meet or gather. The convergence of people from various municipalities bringing their songs, dance and music are a representation of the Palawenos way of life. The festival features cultural presentations, trade shows, exhibitions, a float parade and street dancing.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
 Baragatan will have its grand opening parade called "Pantiguan sa Baragatan" on the afternoon of June 10 where 14 contingents from the municipalities of San Vicente, Araceli, Dumaran, El Nido, Linapacan, Roxas, Coron, Magsaysay (Northern Palawan) and Quezon, Rizal, Sofronio Española, Bataraza, Narra and Brooke’s Point (Southern Palawan).

There is a beauty pageant, the Mutya ng Palawan and the "Saraotan sa Dalan" or street dancing competition.
 Last year a new event was launched the “Baragatan y ang mga Santoâ€, a religious activity that will be a convergence of the images of patron saints from the participating towns.
