Sandurot Festival is a happy and colorful celebration of Dumaguete City held usually every third week of November. It celebrates Dumaguete's innate hospitality and openness to live with people of different cultural beliefs, race and religion in peace and harmony.

Sandurot means "fellowship and reaching out."

It is an annual commemoration to Dumaguete City's tradition since the pre-Hispanic period. It is the convergence of foreign (Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, etc.) peoples and the adaptation of diverse cultures into her shores. The people of Dumaguete are known to welcome strangers coming from different places and around the world up to now. This is the innate trait of Dumagueteños celebrated by the Sandurot Festival.

Sandurot Festival is held at the Rizal Boulevard every November. It reenacts how the natives welcomed these foreign visitors with dance and songs.

Sandurot provides a very significant understanding into the religious-cultural origins of this university-city: the veneration of Dumaguete City's patroness, St. Catherine de Alexandria (Patroness Saint of the Philosophers.) Dumaguete City is a lodestar today. Not only is she known as the "city of gentle people," but a city of knowledge.

Dumaguete City is a blend of artists, scholars, students and professionals.
