Villaba's Goat Festival

In the year 2009, when Goat Festival was formally approved and put into practice by the Municipality of Villaba as their official festival.

 Before, when Villaba was still under the practice of Sinulog Festival, the constituents come up to an agreement to have their own identity since Sinulog Festival already represents Cebu. Hence also that under the Upscaling Rural Enterprise Development (RED), the Goat Festival of Villaba existed.

Villaba is known for its great contribution in goat production in the region and told to be truth Villaba is one of the highest ranking municipalities in goat breeding and production.

Villaba’s Goat Festivalis traditionally observed every third week of January annually. Villaba celebrates a weeklong-festivity with grandeur and bliss. From delightful food to many enjoyable activities all do for the honor of Villaba’s Patron Saint, Sr. Sto. Niňo.

Villaba’s colourful festival showcases a presentation of goat of different sizes and different breed from different part of the region and nearby municipalities and different goat products like milk, meat and etc.

The weeklong festival commence with a novena for the  Sr. Sto. Niňo de Villaba. And the Main highlight is the parade of goats representing the place it embodied in which all the participating goats are dress like humans with all the make-ups and shoes. Next is an exhibit of all goats and a talent show which every goat present tricks.  All these doings are all witnessed by Villabanons and as well as the tourists.
